Oh my goodness, Ya'll I am so sorry for not having written in SO long!
Things have been crazy here in Decatur.
I have a new companion! Sister Rodriguez hails from California and has only been out for 4 months! Speaking of which, seeing that it's August, I'm reaching my 9 month mark this month! Crazy!! My half way mark!
I want to wish Lexie another big happy birthday! And I'm so very happy she was baptized on Saturday!
So, This last week was great but super tough! A challenge for our whole mission was to give a 70 hour week to the work. So, starting last week on Monday, till yesterday we gave 11 hours a day, getting up earlier and going in later with shorter lunch and dinner breaks. But! We saw miracles from it! Just a couple of Emmaus experiences:
Sister Rodriguez and I had 30 minutes left of the night and felt that we ought to tract in a certain area near our house. As we rode past streets that we'd already recently tracted on, I felt prompted to turn around to a specific street. We did so, but as we started tracting we didn't feel that it was very effective, but we both really felt like we needed to be on that street. We were kind of just standing on the street looking around wondering what it was the Spirit wanted us to do, and then a white truck came driving down the street and stopped where we were standing. A lady got out of the car and told us she and her husband had been trying to find us for the past 5 minutes. Her name's Janet and her husbands name is Ray. They asked us who we were and what we were doing, we told her we are missionaries etc. etc. She told us that she's seen us out walking and riding our bikes every day and wondering what we're doing. They're both Pentecostal, so she thought we were Pentecost girls cuz of us wearing skirts all the time and my long hair. They ended up inviting us to their church which was quite the experience. But, we've been over to their house several times!
We also met a guy named Kenneth while trying to follow up on a potential investigator. In our first lesson with him we both felt prompted to invite him to baptism and he's been to church now twice.
We had three investigators in church yesterday, a first for me! Never had that many investigators before.
So, things are really looking up for Decatur! It's definitely hot and humid. Sister Rodriguez and I have been out riding our bikes every day, a great way to meet lots of people, and if it gets super hot and humid we just remember 1 Nephi 17:2 "The women became strong like unto the men"!
Ya'll are awesome! Enjoy the rest of your summer!
Love, Sister Mason
